I warmly congratulate you on your professional holiday!
Now, genuinely revolutionary changes are taking place in mass media. Many individuals from the online media community have joined the ranks of traditional media professionals represented by radio, television, and newspapers. Today`s large army of bloggers and online streamers, mobilographers, copywriters, content managers, SMM specialists, targetologists, information producers, and web designers not only forms content but also sets standards for media business ethics.
Not being professional journalists but having a broad audience and significant financial turnover, these people often act as leaders of public opinion who are trusted, quoted and followed. Unfortunately, against this background, there are frequent cases when, in pursuit of hype and popularity, individual representatives of the media community, including traditional media, descend to the level of the yellow press.
It is understandable and commendable to want to get to the truth, get things moving, and get reasonable answers from officials. The question is different. How is this achieved?
It seems that the high rank of a media representative (I mean both professional journalists and social media ambassadors) implies not only an active civic position but also, no less importantly, competence, culture, and morality. Only the fusion of these qualities gives birth to journalism with a capital J.
The famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in his story "The Little Prince", wrote wonderful words about cleaning a piece of the globe and a lantern man illuminating the darkness of the universe. Members of the media should remember this especially.
