The international conference on nuclear science and technology, “Atom of the Future,” dedicated to the Day of Nuclear Industry Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The large-scale event was organized by the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy.
The main objective of the meeting was to provide young people with a modern and objective understanding of Kazakhstan’s nuclear industry as an integrated high-tech ecosystem. The organizers sought to demonstrate its development prospects and create a platform for direct dialogue between young people and scientists, engineers and young professionals in the industry.
Around 100 people took part in the conference, including representatives of authorized government bodies, international organizations, research institutes and nuclear industry enterprises, as well as experts, scientists, students, master’s and doctoral students from universities across Kazakhstan.
Welcoming the participants, the heads of the relevant institutions emphasized that progress in this field is impossible without strong human resources, safety and the latest digital trends.

Particular attention was paid to strategic planning. The experts agreed that long-term government programs provide a solid foundation for the country’s energy independence and establish a clear direction for young scientists.
“The Strategy for the Development of the Nuclear Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2050 provides a comprehensive vision for the long-term development of the industry. It defines priority areas, in-demand competencies, and objectives in the fields of science, technology and human resource development. Its implementation should ensure the creation of a modern, safe and technologically advanced nuclear industry,” said Timur Zhantikin, Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy.
The main expert discussion took place within the thematic session “Kazakhstan’s Nuclear Industry Today: Four Perspectives.” One of the key areas of discussion was the practical application of theoretical knowledge and the commercialization of domestic technologies.
“A scientific development acquires real value when it finds practical application. Our task is to strengthen the link between science and industry, helping promising solutions move from an idea and prototype to implementation and commercialization,” emphasized Zhanat Baigazinov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Park of Nuclear Technologies.”
Continuing this discussion, the speakers presented examples of successful synergy, where a single institution can effectively combine several areas of critical importance to the state – from fundamental science to the production of vital products.
“The Institute of Nuclear Physics combines fundamental and applied research, the production of radioisotope products for medicine and industry, as well as personnel training. This comprehensive approach makes it possible to develop nuclear technologies and put the results of scientific research into practice,” said Daryn Borgekov, Director of the Astana Branch of the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Institute of Nuclear Physics.”
The conference also featured presentations by Grigory Trubnikov, Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Vladimir Vityuk, Deputy Director General for Science of the Republican State Enterprise “National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan”; Aizada Akkaisieva, Head of Financing Organization at LLP “Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants” and Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Daniyar Dzhanseitov, Director of the Department of Kazakh Content of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy; and Armanbek Omirgali, Director of the Department of Science, Rare Metals and Rare Earth Metals at JSC “National Atomic Company “Kazatomprom” and Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Following the expert presentations, the event moved into an interactive format. During the dialogue “Who Will Build Kazakhstan’s Nuclear Industry?” and the open microphone session “Ask a Nuclear Industry Expert,” young researchers and students had the opportunity to ask direct questions to industry leaders and receive concise, expert answers.
At the conclusion of the international conference, the participants highlighted the high practical value of such meetings for strengthening scientific and industrial cooperation and developing consolidated solutions.
