At the Presidential Center, as part of the retrospective photo exhibition “N. Imamov: 100 Years. 100 Moments,” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nurmukhamat Imamov, a photojournalist, local historian, and chronicler of the capital, special guided tours and lectures are being held for residents and visitors to the city.
The main feature of the special guided tours is the opportunity to see the exposition through the prism of a professional view and personal interpretation of various specialists. This format allows you to take a fresh look at familiar historical footage and reveal more deeply their content, meaning and connection with the era.
The special guided tours of the exhibition were led by Assel Shulenbayeva, an Astana-based guide; Temirtas Iskakov, an architect and researcher; Dmitry Glukhikh, a journalist and local historian; and Kulshat Medeuova, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor at the Department of Philosophy of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
Each of the authors offered his own view on the presented photographic chronicle. Through the prism of the history of the city, social changes, human destinies and human connection with time, the participants of the excursions were able to see archival photographs of Nurmukhamat Imamov from new angles. During the lectures, special attention was paid to the historical and cultural value of the master's photographic heritage.
One hundred archival photographs presented at the exhibition cover different stages of the development of Tselinograd and Akmola – from the formation of the city to its transformation into modern Astana. The streets and architecture, the daily life of the townspeople, important events and people who have left their mark on the history of the capital – all this, thanks to N. Imamov's lens, has become a unique testimony of its time.
The special guided tours do more than simply introduce visitors to historical facts. They invite them to take a closer look at the photographs, hear the “voice” of a bygone era, and feel the connection between the city’s past and present.
