New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Gallery of Historical Maps of Kazakhstan to Open at the Presidential Center

On July 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM, the Presidential Center of the DPA RK will host a solemn presentation of the Gallery of Historical Maps of Kazakhstan, as well as souvenir and handicraft areas.

The project is being implemented under the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to promote scholarly research on Kazakhstan's centuries-old statehood and to preserve the nation's historical and cultural heritage. It also commemorates the entry into force of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 1, 2026, which introduces the principle of continuity in the thousand-year history of the Great Steppe.

Representatives of government agencies, the diplomatic corps, the scientific and expert community, and the cultural and education sectors will participate in the ceremony.

The Gallery of Historical Maps of Kazakhstan will be the country's first permanent exhibition open to the public. It is based on the fundamental scholarly research of Professor Mukhit-Ardager Sydyknazarov, Director of the Institute of Modern Studies at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

The gallery's uniqueness lies in its collection of historical maps by renowned Arab, European, and Russian travelers and explorers from the 11th to 19th centuries, which clearly depict the centuries-long evolution of Kazakh statehood.

The creation of the gallery at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a strategic step toward preserving, promoting, and showcasing Kazakhstan's historical heritage. The project is intended to serve as a modern scientific and educational platform that unites historical studies, museum exhibitions, and educational activities. It also represents the first practical initiative to promote the provisions of Kazakhstan's new Constitution.

The event will also include the opening of craft zones, where leading Kazakh artisans, including renowned jeweler Berik Alibay and military history and weapons expert Kaliolla Akhmetzhan, will present exclusive examples of Kazakh decorative and applied art.

The presentation of the Gallery of Historical Maps of Kazakhstan, along with souvenir and craft zones, within a single project symbolizes the inextricable link between the centuries-old history of national statehood and the preservation of the country's living cultural heritage for future generations.
