The grand opening of Kazakhstani artist Olga Rekhtina's solo exhibition, "The Color of Other Worlds," was held at the Presidential Center of the UDP RK.
During the exhibition, visitors were able to explore the artist's unique artistic research, in which the past and present were subtly connected through the prism of aesthetic perception, forming a holistic understanding of life across different eras.
Representatives of the creative intelligentsia, government agencies, public organizations, and young people participated in the event.
"The exhibition presented today is a profound artistic exploration, connecting the past and present and uniting ideas about life across different eras through the lens of beauty. Olga Rekhtina's work creates a world where traditional events and phenomena are harmoniously combined with mystical motifs. I am confident that the artist's distinctive style, skillful use of color, and the philosophical depth of her paintings will engage both professionals and art enthusiasts," stated Bakytzhan Temirbolat, Director of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Olga Rekhtina's work was presented as a synthesis of classical traditions and her personal mystical experiences. The exhibition highlighted several central themes:
1. Fantasy and Nature: Landscapes and still lifes coexisted with fairytale characters originating from the artist's imagination, alongside works inspired by her international travels.
2. Life and Traditions of the Kazakh People: These works reflect Kazakh culture, highlighting distinctive aspects of national customs and rituals.
3. Dialogue with Masters: Some paintings reinterpret works by renowned artists, allowing Rekhtina to express her perspective on the concepts of the "eternal" and the "beautiful."
4. Idealised Life and Pastoral: Works in the romantic pastoral genre invite viewers to reflect on the simplicity and comfort of rural life in the past.
The exhibition includes approximately 70 works by the artist.
Olga Aleksandrovna Rekhtina was born in 1962 in the East Kazakhstan region. Having risen from a medical specialist to a professional designer and artist, she independently studied the history and theory of painting, developing her own recognisable style. Her creative inspirations included self-taught artists Paul Cézanne, Frida Kahlo, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, and Wassily Kandinsky, who shared an inner need for creativity, a passion for art, and a persistent work ethic.
Since 1998, Olga Aleksandrovna has been an active participant in the artistic life of Kazakhstan. Her creative portfolio includes:
- solo exhibitions in Aktau (Kovcheg Contemporary Art Gallery, 2002; Alem Art Gallery, 2005; Aktau Museum of History and Local Lore, 2007);
- founding and managing the private gallery Palitra (2008–2009).
O. Rekhtina's works were included in private collections in Russia, Turkey, Germany, and Montenegro.
The exhibition "The Color of Other Worlds" was an invitation to dialogue about the beauty that surrounds us everywhere - in a drop of dew on a landscape, in the wisdom of ancestors, and in the quiet light of a bygone life.
The exhibition will run until March 4, 2026.
