HomepageDear people of Kazakhstan!

Dear people of Kazakhstan!

Dear people of Kazakhstan!

On October 25, we celebrate Republic Day. On this day in 1990, the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan was adopted. This momentous document paved the way to independence, becoming the starting point on our people's thorny path to hard-won freedom.
Echoing the lines of one of the outstanding poets of the 20th century, "Face to face, you can't see a face; great things are seen from a distance," today's vantage point reveals the full historical significance of the Declaration for Kazakhstan. Similar to other historic manifestos of freedom, such as the US Declaration of Independence of 1776 and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789, which affirmed national sovereignty, the Declaration became the legal and political foundation for establishing a sovereign state. It articulated the principles of the rule of law, political pluralism, and national unity.

The Declaration, comprising only 17 points, explicitly established the essential attributes of a sovereign state: defined territory, citizenship, independence, full state authority, a national budget, autonomy in international relations, and state symbols.
Republic Day serves not only as a holiday but also as a significant reminder of the value of freedom, the responsibility for the nation's future, and the collective mission to preserve and advance the achievements of our independence.
Happy Republic Day, dear compatriots!

Sincerely,

Director of the
Presidential Center
of the Republic of Kazakhstan
