The GCIP-Kazakhstan National Academy, organized by the “International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center” JSC, has officially commenced its work at the Presidential Center of the DPA RK.

The Academy serves as the central educational component of the third cycle of the flagship acceleration program focused on clean technologies, and marks a key milestone for startups selected through the 2025 national competition. Participants represent innovative projects in priority areas, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, sustainable water use, clean transportation, and advanced materials.

The goal of the Academy is to prepare selected startups for successful participation in the GCIP-Kazakhstan acceleration program by building their core competencies in business planning, sustainability, market strategy, and investment readiness, with a strong focus on the introduction of environmentally sound technologies.

“The environmental agenda has now taken on strategic importance and has become not only a matter of scientific and professional dialogue but also a part of national policy and public consciousness. A year ago, at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the large-scale 'Taza Kazakhstan' campaign was launched, aimed at improving environmental conditions, mobilizing resources, and transforming public attitudes toward ecological issues. Today, we welcome the winners of the GCIP-Kazakhstan Acceleration Program, whose projects aim to enhance environmental quality. These are not just business initiatives, they are true catalysts for change. "The ideas and technologies proposed by our participants will help create a world where sustainability and environmental protection are part of everyday life," said Bakytzhan Temirbolat, Director of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in his welcome speech.

The Academy features an intensive training module delivered by both international and national experts. Special attention is given to practical training in business model development, market entry strategies, investor engagement, and partnership building. The training program is conducted in collaboration with experts from the Network for Global Innovation (NGIN, USA)—a leading global network of accelerators, mentors, and investors dedicated to advancing sustainable technologies.

GCIP-Kazakhstan is implemented by the Center with support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The program is part of a global initiative to promote innovation in clean technologies and foster the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. Kazakhstan is the only country in Central Asia participating in this initiative, which currently spans 15 countries, including Turkey, South Africa, Indonesia, and Nigeria.

Since its launch, the GCIP-Kazakhstan program has demonstrated steady results: over 200 applications were submitted in 2023–2024, and this year alone, 350 applications were received, with 51 startup projects selected to join the acceleration program. The launch of the GCIP-Kazakhstan National Academy marks a significant step in building a resilient innovation ecosystem and supporting a new generation of environmentally focused entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan.
