A lecture on "Environmental Issues of Today: Status and Solutions" was held at the Presidential Center of the DPA of Kazakhstan for students of Astana College of Public Catering and Services.

Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of environmental education for citizens: "Thanks to initiatives like these, a new culture, and new social ethics are taking root in the country. One could say that this is true patriotism and care for the homeland".

During the lecture, students learned about the main environmental challenges, including global warming, ozone layer depletion, and the exhaustion of natural resources. Special attention was given to international initiatives and activities of leading environmental organizations, such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and Greenpeace.

The students actively participated in discussions about the implementation of the national campaign Taza Kazakhstan," which was launched in 2019. This program aims to enhance environmental awareness among the population and draw attention to issues of environmental protection.

The event was attended by 60 students.

As part of the campaign, nationwide events such as clean-up days, environmental lectures, and volunteer activities are held, with the participation of organization employees, youth labour groups, and activists. These events contribute to the formation of an environmentally responsible society and lay the foundation for the country’s sustainable future.

According to the Government of Kazakhstan, in 2024, the total number of participants in the "TazaKazakhstan" campaign reached 6.2 million people. As a result, 1.1 million tons of waste were collected, and approximately 1.6 million trees were planted.

It is important to mention that, as per the instructions of the Head of State, 336.5 million seedlings are set to be planted this year, covering an area of 494,000 hectares.
