













Employees of the Presidential Center of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan held festive events dedicated to the celebration of the International Day of Older Personsand International Music Day in the Center for special social services «Shapagat» in Akkaiyn village of Tselinograd district.
The purpose of the event is to express deep respect and support for the older generation, promote the development of an inclusive society, which was repeatedly mentioned in the messages of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev.
“Our Center is always warm, welcoming and respectful. Congratulations on the International Day of the Older Persons, we are grateful for your sharing of life experience. I wish you good health and long life", - said the director of the Center for special social services "Shapagat" Kuandyk Sandybaev addressing the representatives of the older generation.
K. Sandybaev also thanked the management of the Presidential Center for organizing festive events.
The planned programme included an exhibition with two thematic sections.
In the first section, "Independence – support of the State" were presented the exhibits from the collection of the Presidential Center, illustrating the history of the establishment and development of independent Kazakhstan.
The second section, "Musical instruments of the peoples of the world" introduced to traditional musical instruments and national costumes of different peoples of the world. It is worth noting that the exhibition will allow residents living in the Center to touch the cultural heritage and feel that music and traditions can unite people regardless of their age and origin.
The visiting thematic exhibition was completed by a literary and musical evening. The Presidential Center staff performed works that warm the heart and give warm memories. The melodic songs and the kuis gave a good mood, created an atmosphere of unity and understanding between the participants of the evening.
“We are happy today to bring joy to you, who live in the Center "Shapagat". Folk wisdom says: “If there are old people in the country, it is the treasure of this people”. This year we visited your organization for the first time. Today you will have the opportunity to see the museum collections of the Presidential Center presented in the form of diplomatic gifts given to the First President of Kazakhstan and the Head of State, musical instruments and national costumes of the world. Thank you for your work. Your wise counselmakes this life better. We wish all the best," said Deputy Director of the Presidential Center BotagozKaipova.
The festive events concluded with the cleanup. Within the framework of the republican action “TazaKazakhstan”, the staff of the Presidential Center landscaped the territory of the Center, thus providing comfortable conditions for elderly people.
Reference. Every year on October 1, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of the Older Persons, declared at the 45th session of the UN General Assembly and dedicated to respect, love and care for older generations.
This day is intended to highlight the importance of supporting older people, especially in the context of global changes related to population ageing.
According to the World Population Prospects 2022, the population above the age of 65 years is growing more rapidly than the population below that age
The proportion of people aged 65 years and above is increasing to 16% in 2050 and will be twice the number of children under age 5 and almost equivalent to the number of children under 12 years.
The situation in Kazakhstan follows the global trend. Over 5 years, the share of elderly people living in Kazakhstan has increased by 22.2%.
By type of locality, location and socio-demographic indicators the following is noted:
- more women (63%) than men (37%) in the demographic segment;
- the majority of people over 65 years old live in Almaty (205,586), Karaganda (139,449) and Turkestan regions (121,299);
- the lowest number in Mangistau (42,353), Atyrau(44,203) and Söltaud (20,356) regions.
The average total pension in Kazakhstan is 131,872 tenge.
There are other measures of state support:
✅ social benefits for the elderly with low incomes or in difficult life situations;
✅ one-off benefits to cover special needs, such as medical treatment or improvement of housing conditions;
✅ free medical care and treatment in hospitals;
✅ cost compensation for the installation of meters and gas equipment;
✅ vouchers to the sanatorium and others.
