On September 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm, the Presidential Center of the DPA of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a Fishbowl discussion titled "Sustainable Tourism in Kazakhstan" as part of the celebrations for World Tourism Day (September 27).
The event is organized by the Presidential Center, the Eurasian Tourism Association, and the Center for Urban Tourism Development (Astana), with the support of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.
This event aims to promote the principles of sustainable tourism and strengthen collaboration in this critical sector, reflecting the key points expressed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 2, 2024.
The President emphasized the importance of modernizing infrastructure at the country's major tourist sites, preserving the ecological balance in executing tourism projects and preventing harm to nature.
The Fishbowl discussion offers a unique platform to address current challenges and explore the prospects for sustainable tourism development in Kazakhstan. This dialogue is particularly relevant following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which aims to modernize the country's tourism sector.
The Fishbowl discussion will bring together members of the Eurasian Tourism Association, the Urban Tourism Development Center, experts from the tourism industry of Kazakhstan, university professors and public figures to discuss topical issues and opportunities in the field of Kazakh tourism.
The format of the event will encourage an open and dynamic discussion, during which concrete recommendations and initiatives will be developed to enhance tourist infrastructure, attract investment, preserve natural and cultural heritage, and create favourable conditions for tourists in Kazakhstan, utilizing effective tools of advanced digital technologies.
