"Islam in Kazakhstan: history, problems, prospects" was the topic of a visiting lecture at the Astana College of Economics and Law.
In the course of the lecture, students studied the stages of Islam's institutionalization in independent Kazakhstan, as well as the history of the religion's beginnings on Kazakh territory. Islam was one of the primary influences on the development of the original spirituality and culture of the Kazakh people.
The issue of observing religious rules and norms in the context of globalization of mass culture has caused a wide discussion. Special attention is paid to the problems of the emergence of religious extremism in Kazakhstan, the effectiveness of measures to counter the spread of destructive ideologies, legislative norms to combat religious extremism, etc. The subject of Kazakhstan's participation in the framework of the most important Islamic state associations was also taken into consideration.
