Pope Francis presented the commemorative medal to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on January 19, 2024, in Vatican City.
The commemorative medal is made of bronze, round in shape, and yellow in colour. On the obverse, the inscription in Italian reads, "Franciscus PontifexMaximus anno XI." On the reverse: the inscription in Italian: "SIMUL inveniendae sunt pacis semitae". The elements in the painting symbolize a message of peace and faith.
The head of state made the first official visit to the Vatican at the invitation of the Pope.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that, within the framework of bilateral relations, Kazakhstan highly values cooperation with the Holy See, which is based on sincere friendship, harmony, and respect.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of State thanked the Pope and confirmed that Kazakhstan intends to cooperate with the Holy See in promoting the ideas of tolerance, harmony and brotherhood.
