The opening of the thematic collection exhibition "Reference Point" dedicated to the Republic Day took place in the Presidential Center of the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Well-known state and public figures, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and deputies of both chambers of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan attended the event.
As the Director of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Temirbolat, noted in his welcoming speech, today's exhibition organically correlates with the mission of the Presidential Center, which is to study and promote the historical heritage of our independence through the prism of the Institute of the Presidency of Kazakhstan.
According to the Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zharkynbek Amantayuly, the name of the exhibition very accurately characterizes the historical significance of the Declaration of State Sovereignty. After all, the adoption of this document became the starting point for Kazakhstan on the path to full independence and sovereignty.
It should be noted that the exposition consists of 8 parts devoted to issues of territorial integrity, state symbols of Kazakhstan, global initiatives and achievements, domestic and foreign policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, environmental safety, and implementation of reforms.
The exhibition presents more than 60 museum exhibits, archival documents and books, which visually demonstrate the key points written in the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition will last until November 23, 2023.
For reference: On October 25, 1990, the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR adopted a historical document – "Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR". With the adoption of this Declaration, the independent territory, citizenship, state budget, independence in international relations, and state symbols of Kazakhstan were approved. The sovereignty and integrity of the territory of Kazakhstan were confirmed from the political, legal and economic positions. Such concepts as the integrity of the country's territory, the revival of culture, traditions, language of the Kazakh people and representatives of other nationalities, and the formation and strengthening of national identity were approved. The Kazakh SSR received the right to create its armed forces, national security and internal affairs bodies thanks to the Declaration. After Kazakhstan gained independence, Republic Day was celebrated annually on October 25. On October 18, 1995, it was declared a national holiday for the first time. However, in 2001 it acquired the status of a public holiday; in 2009, it was completely excluded from the list of holidays. On the initiative of the Head of State K.K.Tokayev, in 2022, Republic Day was again given the status of a national holiday, and this year, it will be officially celebrated for the second time. |
