Students from Al-Farabi KazNU and Narxoz University met with Timur Dzhumurbayev, Chairman of the Assembly of Zhastary and member of the Constitutional Reform Commission, at the Presidential Center of the DPA RK.
Approximately 50 participants attended the event.
The primary topic of discussion was the forthcoming national referendum on adopting a new Constitution.
During the meeting, Timur Dzhumurbayev outlined the principal reform initiatives designed to support the younger generation:
- Political participation: lowering the age threshold and introducing quotas in government bodies, as well as the work of new state institutions such as the Kazakhstan Halyk Kenesi and the Kuryltai of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Social guarantees: legislatively setting the youth age limit at 35, and expanding access to housing programs, grants, and government support measures;
- Economics and law: establishing a constitutional basis for the development of creative industries, enhancing copyright protection in the digital age, and strengthening employment guarantees;
- Priority of freedoms: enshrining human rights as the highest value of the state and providing youth with legal protections for self-realization.
The speaker responded in detail to all questions. He emphasised that the new Basic Law transforms young Kazakhstani citizens into active participants in state governance and creators of a new reality. It provides institutional opportunities for careers in politics, science and business.
Students asked questions about the practical application of new regulations and prospects for professional growth in the updated legal environment. The young people emphasized the value of the knowledge they gained for their future civic and professional activities and found the meeting both informative and engaging.
After the meeting, the invited guest participated in a certificate presentation ceremony for participants in the seminar training "Kazakhstan in the New Reality: Youth in an Era of Change."
