On February 28, a lecture titled "Youth of Kazakhstan: Social Portrait and Prospects" was held for students of the Higher College of the Kazpotrebsouz in Astana.
The young people were introduced to the social portrait of Kazakhstani youth, developed based on sociological data from the country’s research institutions. Analyzing the values, interests, and demands of young Kazakhstanis is a significant tool for improving the quality of the implementation of state youth policy. Special attention was given during the lecture to state programs and projects for youth in areas such as employment, business development, education, and more.
The issues related to the realization of measures under the Year of Skilled Trades prompted an active discussion. Topics included the reform of the vocational and technical education system, the establishment of centres for recognizing professional qualifications, the organization of career guidance for schoolchildren on the "Compass Career" platform, and updating the professional standards for working professions. The initiative of the Year of Skilled Trades aims to transform vocational and technical education and address the acute shortage of skilled workers in domestic industries. According to experts, Kazakhstan will need over a million specialists with vocational and technical education within the next five years. Among the most in-demand specialties are engineers, energy specialists, drivers, welders, finishers, locksmiths, and others.
