The Presidential Center of the Presidential Affairs Department of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the grand opening of the exhibition “Uniting Art: Kazakhstan-India”, which aims to develop bilateral cultural ties between Kazakhstan and India, which have a rich historical and spiritual heritage.

The event was organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Nemalevichi Watercolour Workshop in Pavlodar, within the framework of the international project of the Presidential Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Dialogue through Culture”.

In his welcoming speech, Bakytzhan Temirbolat, Director of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that visitors to the exhibition have a rare opportunity to see India and its culture through the eyes of our compatriots and, in turn, our homeland in the creative reinterpretation of Indian artists. Such a creative synthesis creates a true synergy, which can be fully felt by getting acquainted with the presented art works.

According to Nagendra Prasad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan, art overcomes language barriers and allows people from different countries to communicate on emotional and intellectual levels, it can convey complex ideas, feelings and tell stories that are sometimes difficult to express in words.

In turn, Indian artist Ram Viranjan shared his dream. He hopes that someday in the future this exhibition will be seen in India, so that the citizens of his country could admire the beauty of the Kazakh land, as well as see how Kazakhstanis see India through the prism of art.

Svetlana Kravchenko, head of the Nemalevichi Watercolor Workshop, expressed her gratitude to the organizers and guests of the event and emphasized that watercolor painting is one of the most challenging techniques in fine arts. It is a light, airy, lively, moving painting that requires special skill and patience, which makes today's works even more valuable and special.

Within the framework of the exhibition, 90 watercolor works by 25 authors were featured.

Of these, 48 works are by participants of the Nemalevichi Watercolor Workshop, which united under one roof non-professional artists, representatives of different professions - teachers, lawyers, economists, medical workers and others, as well as 21 watercolors by the workshop leader Svetlana Kravchenko. The paintings depict beautiful landscapes of India and Kazakhstan, ethnic motifs, architectural subjects, portraits, and still lifes.

In addition, for the first time presented a watercolor series of 21 works by Indian artist Ram Viranjan "Winter Landscapes of Kazakhstan" on the creation of which the author was inspired by the amazing, fascinating winter panoramas of the Kazakh countryside.
