
On November 1, 2023, at 15.00, the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a meetup with the alums of the Bolashak scholarship, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of establishing the international scholarship.
The event's purpose is to analyse Kazakhstan's experience in forming state scholarship and grant programs for study abroad, the processes of international integration of Kazakhstan in education.
The meetup format will help young people learn about the accomplishments and success stories of the "Bolashak" program graduates. It will also help activate young people's intellectual and creative potential and shape their political views, attitudes, and values.
Among the speakers will be Dmitry Gorbunov, head of the department of pediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac surgeon at the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center JSC; Aidar Makhmetov – Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Associate Professor at Maqsut Narikbayev University, Doctor of Political Science at the University of Cologne, 7-time world champion in MMA, jiu-jitsu and grappling, Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Serik Nurkenov – associate professor at Astana International University, PhD in physics, the first medical physicist and founder of nuclear medicine in Kazakhstan; Nurlan Uteshev – Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Aidie Aidarbekov - the head of educational programs at the International School of Journalism at Maqsut Narikbayev University, producer, director, screenwriter, actor, composer.
The Bolashak International Scholarship, established on November 5, 1993, has become one of the most important strategic projects of sovereign Kazakhstan. Through the development of a layer of qualified managers in every sector, its establishment served as the starting point for a new phase of the republic's modernization.
In 2014, "Bolashak" was named the finest program out of 11 such scholarships worldwide due to the diverse range of study programs, training fields, and university locations. As a result, it became the ideal human capital development model for states with transit economies.
China, Poland, Finland and others are still studying the results of the worldwide scholarship program "Bolashak." The Russian program "Global Education" and the scholarship program of the Republic of Tatarstan "Algarysh" are also based on this experience
