A meeting was held at the Presidential Center of the DPA of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where participants of the seminar-training "Fair Society – Honest Citizen" met with Dinara Sadvokasova, Chairperson of the "Unified Children and Youth Organization RPA 'ZhasUlan'" and a member of the Presidential Youth Personnel Reserve.
The purpose of the event was to actively promotethe idea of ecological patriotism, which unites Kazakhstanis in caring for nature and the environment.
The meeting was attended by faculty and students of higher educational institutions of the capital. In totalthere were about 70 people.
In his speeches, President of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev, repeatedly emphasized the importance of developing an ecological culture in society and promoting the values of caring for the environment.
"I believe that in the new realities, ecological thinking should be at the core of all educational and scientific programs. We need to ensure that a responsible attitude towards natural resources and concern for the environment become an integral part of public consciousness," said the Head of State.
Eco-patriotism, which is based on love and respect for our homeland and the desire to protect it, implies an understanding of citizens' responsibility to future generations for preserving natural resources. One of the bright examples of ecological initiatives is the national campaign "Taza Kazakhstan," which has become a driving force in addressing environmental issues in the country.
According to the President, this campaign is not just another event but an extremely important project aimed at changing the orientation and attitude of Kazakhstanis towards the environment. The youth have actively participated in this large-scale ecological initiative, which is a positive indicator.
During the event, issues related to the activities of state and public organizations in solving ecological problems, the contents and directions of implemented projects in this field, and preparations for hosting the Regional Climate Summit in Kazakhstan in 2026 under the auspices of the UN were discussed.
"Currently, Kazakhstan is creating favorable conditions for improving the ecology, for 'ecologizing' public consciousness, and for widespread ecological modernization. Therefore, the question of ecological education for schoolchildren and youth is highly relevant. We must contribute to the creation of a community of 5% eco-conscious people in Kazakhstan. This is the critical mass that will trigger irreversible changes in society," noted Dinara Sadvokasova, Chairperson of the "Unified Children and Youth Organization RPA 'Zhas Ulan'."
A student from the Eurasian Humanities Institute named after A.K. Kusainov, Ayulym Turganbek, also shared her opinion.
"It was a very interesting and informative meeting. Many of the facts presented by the speaker were new to me. The idea of preserving the environment, resources, and addressing ecological issues is relevant not only for Kazakhstan but for the entire world. Since the human factor plays a decisive role in all ecological problems, the responsibility for solving them lies with all of us. Preserving the planet for future generations is one of the main tasks of today, because the Earth can exist without humans, but humans cannot exist without the Earth," she said.
At the end of the meeting, a ceremony was held to award certificates to participants of the seminar-training "Fair Society – Honest Citizen".
For Reference: On the instructions of the Head of State in the regions of Kazakhstan from April 6 to May 11, 2024 the republican ecological action “Taza Kazakstan” was held.
As part of this campaign, work was carried out on greening, sanitary cleaning, and improving the territories of settlements. Over 2.4 million people participated in the campaign. Hundreds of thousands of yards and areas were cleaned, more than 900,000 tons of waste were collected, and around 2.5 million green plants were planted. More than 20,000 social facilities were cleaned, and over 4,600 public spaces, parks, and squares were improved. It is worth noting that, at the instruction of President K.K. Tokayev, the Government of Kazakhstan approved the "Concept for the Development of Ecological Culture 'Taza Kazakhstan' for 2024-2029" in early November 2024.
This concept provides for a comprehensive approach, covering various methods and approaches to the development of ecological culture. Key areas include ecological thinking, responsible behavior, including measures to promote it, ecological education, and awareness.
The implementation of this Concept will increase public awareness of ecological issues, foster ecological habits, and activate citizen participation in ecological initiatives.
According to the target indicators, by 2029, the recycling of municipal waste is expected to increase from 25% to 38%, and the share of students involved in activities to strengthen ecological education is set to rise from 15% to 40%. There is also an expected increase in citizens' satisfaction with environmental quality of life from 55.8% to 64.7%.
The Concept's implementation includes the development of infrastructure for the separate collection of municipal waste in public places, the introduction of environmentally safe practices, and the formation of a "zero tolerance" culture towards environmental pollution.
