The Presidential Centre of the DPA RK hosted the opening of the exhibition "A Trace Immortalized in History".

This exhibition, organized in collaboration with the History and Local Lore Museum of Zhambyl Oblast, is part of the Presidential Center's project "Kazakhstan's Way," which aims to strengthen long-standing partnerships and enhance inter-museum cooperation.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Zhambyl Oblast, seeks to introduce Astana residents and visitors to the rich, multi-century history of Zhambyl Oblast. It showcases past generations' material and spiritual life while promoting the activities of notable figures from the region.

Zhambyl region is rich in its cultural and spiritual heritage, has a deep history, picturesque nature, extensive and diverse flora and fauna. The relics here for thousands of years show that the city was the epicentre of a great civilization. The history of the Great Silk Road, which connected the four sides of the world in ancient times, also has its roots.

Archaeological sites such as Akyrtas, Balasagun, Barkuab, Kulan, and Ornек represent unique landmarks in the golden timeline of history. Additionally, sacred sites like Kyzylbasy, where the flag of the Kazakh Khanate was first raised, and Mount Khantau, the birthplace of the great bard Zhambyl Zhabayev, after whom the region is named, stand as significant testaments to the nation’s rich heritage.

"Zhambyl Oblast rightfully deserves its reputation as a treasure trove of historical sites and unique relics. To date, 116 ancient settlements have been discovered in the region, many of which were significant cities along the Great Silk Road, serving as centres of science, crafts, and trade. Among them, the city of Taraz stands out as a true jewel, one of the oldest urban centres in our country. Today, Zhambyl Oblast is a vital industrial, scientific, educational, and cultural hub and a popular tourist destination in Kazakhstan," noted Bakytzhan Temirbolat, Director of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"The current exhibition showcases material and spiritual cultural values, featuring unique artefacts discovered during scientific and archaeological research conducted in the Zhambyl region over the years. Specifically, the unique collections of archaeology include artefacts that reflect the history of the medieval city of Taraz: among the most valuable are collections of coins from the Turkic, Karakhanid, Mongol, and Samanid periods, a collection of ceramics used for various domestic purposes during the medieval period, ceramic and bronze lamps, original bricks from the mausoleum of Aisha Bibi, and different types of sphero-cones used for storing aromatic perfumes and medicinal substances," stated Sara Madieva, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Language Development of the Zhambyl Region.

In his address, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukash Iskandirov noted: "By exploring the exhibitions, one can witness unique relics, personal belongings, books, photographs, and archival documents belonging to such prominent figures as Asanbay Askarov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Asanali Ashimov, Sherkhan Murtaza, and Kenen Azirbayev."

The exhibition also features portraits and personal items of Olympic champions from Zhambyl Oblast. These distinguished athletes are Greco-Roman wrestling master Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, boxing Olympic champions Yermakhan Ibrayimov and Bakhtiyar Artayev, and judo triumphant Yeldos Smetov. Additionally, unique exhibits showcasing the sporting achievements of Paralympic champion Zulfiya Gabidullina will be presented.

In total, the exhibition showcases around 200 artefacts.

The exhibition will be open until 29 November 2024.
